Many basic scooter maintenance tasks are safe to do at home. The key is to use the right tools and avoid sensitive electronics unless you’re experienced.
Below is a list of safe tasks and situations where a service visit is recommended.
Safe tasks at home
- Check and adjust tire pressure.
- Tighten handlebar and folding joint bolts.
- Replace brake pads or adjust cables.
- Clean dirt and remove moisture after riding.
- Replace reflectors or lights.
Avoid doing yourself
- Opening the battery or BMS without proper tools.
- Replacing controllers or motor wiring without diagnostics.
- Firmware or software changes without experience.
- Using improper lubricants in bearings or suspension.
